Care Group Director of Nursing

Role Overview
The Care Group Director of Nursing works collaboratively as part of the Care Group triumvirate/quadrumvirate to deliver effective integrated clinical, operational and financial performance.
They lead on quality, safety and patient experience across the Care Group, contribute to the planning and delivery of the Trust Strategy and the Corporate Nursing Agenda, and manage a portfolio delegated by the Chief Nurse.
Main duties
The Director has responsibility for the strategic vision for nursing and AHPs across their portfolio, ensuring implementation of national and local strategies and achievement of service objectives within available resources. In partnership with colleagues they drive continual quality improvement.
They are expected to provide proactive and visible leadership across four key areas: service leadership, people and personal leadership, quality leadership, and collaborative leadership.
Job responsibilities
All senior leaders work as part of a cohesive team and take lead responsibility for corporate issues outside their immediate sphere to achieve corporate objectives of the Trust.
The Trust uses a Lean-based improvement methodology. The Director’s role includes supporting implementation of the Improving Together approach in delivering their responsibilities.
Person Specification
* Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification, supplemented by specialist training to master's or equivalent level.
* Understanding of the provision and delivery of health care services and of current and developing NHS policy, Government strategy and plans for modernising health care. Thorough knowledge of the NHS structure, functions, culture and values and its inter-relationship with other agencies.
* Proven successful track record in leading a range of different clinical services and implementing and strengthening clinical governance.
* Project Management qualification or Coaching / Mentoring qualification.
