About the role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA) – Grade 1 to join our Oncology/Haematology Ward at Cabrini Malvern.
In this vital support role, you will work under the supervision of registered nurses to provide safe, high-quality, and patient-centred care. You’ll assist with daily activities, contribute to a comfortable and supportive environment, and help ensure the seamless delivery of care for our patients and their families.
The rostered shifts for this position are:
Wednesday to Friday, 7:30am–2:30pm, and Sunday, 8:00am–1:00pm.
Flexibility to work additional shifts across a 7-day roster, including weekends and public holidays, is essential.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Assist in the delivery of patient care under the direction and supervision of registered nurses
2. Observe and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff
3. Respond to patient and family queries, referring appropriately to the registered nurse
4. Maintain a clean and safe patient environment, including bed making and equipment checks
5. Uphold patient privacy, dignity, and respect at all times
6. Provide emotional, spiritual, and cultural support in line with Cabrini’s Mission and Values
About you
You are an empathetic, reliable, and team-oriented individual who takes pride in providing excellent care to patients.
You will have:
7. Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (or equivalent qualification as per position description)
8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with patients and families
9. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
10. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
11. Previous experience in an acute hospital setting (desirable)
