As a resources coordinator you will supervise a cohort of SILC team leaders, Assistant team leaders, drivers and Passenger assistants to deliver the day-to-day provision of the passenger transport service across the Leeds authority to approx. 4700 customers daily.

About the role
This is a hands-on, operational role that can be challenging at times but is also highly rewarding. You will need a strong geographical knowledge of the Leeds area, along with experience in managing a fleet of passenger-carrying vehicles (desirable but not essential). The role requires the ability to manage competing priorities and workloads effectively, while responding positively and flexibly to the evolving needs of the service. You will be expected to build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, and to demonstrate a flexible, empathetic approach when working with ASC and SEND passengers with complex needs and behaviours. You will be instrumental in embedding legislation and council policies ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Job Description
Job Purpose:
11. To supervise a team of Driver’s and Passenger Assistant’s covering a specific patch of the city, responsible for the provision of an effective and efficient inhouse passenger transport service and meals at home service.
12. To work with the Principal Resources Coordinator and own team, in order to embed council values.
13. To ensure Drivers and Passenger Assistants understand and deliver the service within the agreed performance standards, and work alongside colleagues within the service to improve overall service standards and performance.
14. To promote cross service working with other services within the Council.
15. To support the Principal Resources Coordinator in ensuring the services fleet vehicles are maintained, serviced, and utilised efficiently and in accordance with appropriate Health and Safety regulations.
16. To work with the Principal Resources Coordinator to introduce processes, training, and development plan to ensure a continuous programme of improvement is in place for all areas of the service.
17. To be effective in responding to complaints and other enquiries from passengers or clients in a professional and courteous manner.
Responsibilities for Grade:
18. To be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of Drivers and Passenger Assistants, delivering a 365-day service.
19. To ensure Drivers and Passenger Assistants are proactive to ensure an efficient inhouse service is provided, including but not limited to the allocation and usage of vehicles, drivers, and passenger assistants.
20. To ensure the delivery of a professional, efficient, and effective passenger transport service that responds to the passenger, customers, and clients across a wide range of services functions.
21. To ensure the allocation of drivers and vehicles to deliver an efficient and effective service which meets performance standards, passenger, and client needs.
22. To undertake a transport route where necessary to support the team.
23. To use appropriate software to schedule routes to ensure inhouse service is always efficient.
24. To assist the Fleet officer with day to day logistics.
25. To support colleagues in the coordination and management of depot and facilities ensuring compliance with Health and Safety Regulations.
26. To support the Senior Resources Coordinator in ensuring all legislation and all council policies and procedures are fully implemented.
27. To contribute to continuous service improvements within the service and Authority.
28. To participate in appraisal, training and development activities as necessary to ensure up to date knowledge and skills.
29. To improve own practice through observation, evaluation, discussion with colleagues and appropriate CPD programmes.
30. To work collaboratively with colleagues, knowing when to seek help and advice.
31. Contribute to overall ethos, work and aims of the service by attending relevant meetings, training days/events as requested.
32. Be aware and comply with Leeds City Council policies and procedures e.g. child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
