Packhouse Line Leader Location: South England Job Type: Full-time | Permanent Salary: Competitive, DOE The Role An established fresh produce business in South East England is seeking an experienced Packhouse Line Leader to oversee daily operations on a busy packing line. This is a hands-on leadership role, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and health & safety requirements are consistently met. You will lead a team of packers, maintain efficient workflow, and work closely with the Packhouse Supervisor to deliver safe, compliant, and high-quality product to specification. Key Responsibilities Hygiene, Safety & Compliance Operate with a safety-first approach at all times Ensure all products meet food safety, legality, and quality standards Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant packing line environment Conduct routine safety checks and report hazards or technical faults Ensure correct use of PPE across the team Maintain accurate records and documentation Promote strong food safety and hygiene culture on the line Operational Leadership Supervise and motivate a team of packers Drive productivity against KPIs (packs per minute per operator / line) Monitor workflow to avoid bottlenecks and downtime Escalate performance or staffing issues to the Supervisor Oversee grading, sorting, packing, and labelling to customer specification Support quality control and resolve issues promptly Coordinate line changeovers to minimise downtime Accurately build pallets using Pack Star systems Candidate Requirements Experience in a packhouse, food production, or warehouse leadership role Food Safety / HACCP Level 2 or higher Valid FLT licence Strong people-management and communication skills Hands-on, proactive problem solver Good understanding of food safety, hygiene, and quality control standards Familiarity with packing line equipment and processes Basic computer skills for reporting and record-keeping
