Lambeth CAMHS are looking to recruit an experienced and highly specialist ADHD Nurse Prescriber to lead the ADHD pathway in our community service.
Key Competencies
* Independent and team working in both a clinical and managerial role.
* Confident in delivery of ADHD care including medication management and physical health assessments.
* Excellent organisational and forward‑thinking skills, initiative, adaptability, and excellent communication abilities.
* Leadership on and contribution clinically to all aspects of the ADHD pathway, including screening, assessment, psycho‑education, medication management, behavioural management, care planning, risk assessment and management, and transition to adult services.
* Contribution to further ADHD pathway development.
Clinical Responsibilities
* Lead the provision and delivery of the nurse‑led ADHD clinic and be a highly specialist practitioner within assessment, treatment and pharmacological management of CYP with ADHD and co‑morbid difficulties.
* Work independently and autonomously within professional guidelines and Trust policies.
* Provide CAMHS assessments using self‑report measures, structured observations, clinical interviews, and interpret complex data to diagnose causes of emotional and behavioural problems.
* Formulate mental healthcare and crisis treatment plans tailored to each CYP and family, assess safeguarding issues and refer to the appropriate safeguarding team.
* Deliver evidence‑based treatments, monitor outcomes and modify interventions drawing from a range of theoretical options.
* Assess and monitor risk; develop appropriate risk‑management plans in conjunction with CYP, parents/carers and other services.
* Communicate skillfully, tactfully and sensitively complex, potentially distressing information with CYP, parents, carers and colleagues, accounting for sensory and cultural barriers.
* Maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing, including electronic data entry, according to professional and Trust guidelines.
* Ensure services provided are acceptable and accessible to diverse communities within the catchment area.
* Act as care coordinator for high‑risk and extremely complex cases, ensuring appropriate care packages and coordinating multidisciplinary interventions.
Professional Leadership
* Provide strategic nursing input at senior level across Lambeth CAMHS, ensuring effective advice to the Lead Nurse, Borough manager, Lead Clinician and other management team.
* Liaise with the Lead Nurse to ensure nursing standards are consistent.
Teaching, Training & Supervision
* Receive regular clinical and professional supervision from a more senior clinician according to Trust guidelines.
* Contribute to the development of knowledge and skill base within nursing staff and Lambeth CAMHS.
* Provide professional clinical, research and managerial supervision to qualified nursing staff and students.
* Provide placements to student nurses as required.
* Provide advice, consultation, training and supervision to staff and parents/carers across primary care, social services, education, residential units and family homes.
Management, Recruitment, Policy & Service Development
* Identify service improvement needs and advise service and professional managers on appropriate changes.
* Assist in short‑listing and interviewing multidisciplinary staff as required.
* Participate in clinical governance initiatives and act as clinical governance link worker as agreed.
* Deputise for the Borough manager when required and represent the team at borough and SLAM level when needed.
* Undertake Serious Incident investigations as required by the Directorate.
Research & Service Evaluation
* Contribute to service development through initiating and undertaking service evaluation and audit.
* Undertake computer‑based literature reviews and conduct research relevant to the service, providing advice and supervision to other staff.
* Develop outcome measurement and implement its use.
* Disseminate research and service evaluation findings through service feedback, presentations, and published articles.
* Participate in agreed audit projects and in service improvement based on findings.
General Professional Standards
* Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of current developments in professional and clinical practice with children and families, and of relevant legislation and policies.
* Critically examine all aspects of work to ensure compliance with professional standards and Trust policies.
* Maintain required record keeping as per professional codes and Directorate policies.
* Participate fully in implementing standards devised from Trust's clinical and research governance activity.
