Position Summary

Baptist Health Princeton Hospital

At Baptist Health Princeton Hospital, the Clinical Assistant Nurse Manager (CANM) is responsible for leading shift operations within the clinical setting to ensure high-quality care, exceptional customer experience, and optimal patient flow. In conjunction with the Department Nursing Operations Manager and the Assistant Nursing Operations Manager (ANOM), the CANM provides guidance, fosters collaboration, and oversees the unit’s clinical operations, including patient care assignments, customer experience, productivity, and quality outcomes in settings where an acute care patient receives active treatment for injury, illness, medical condition, or post-intervention assessment.


Responsibilities

* Exemplifies the mission, vision, and values of Baptist Health and Orlando Health.
* Participates in shared leadership structure.
* Manages staffing assignments for oncoming and outgoing shifts based on patient acuity and team members' skill sets to meet patient care needs.
* Coordinates patient flow by working directly with Administrative Supervisors, Care Coordinators, and Discharge Planners to achieve expected outcomes.
* Monitors the overall status of patients within the area of responsibility, with particular attention to seriously ill patients.
* Coordinates and/or participates in the delivery of patient care, ensuring compliance with physician orders and established policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
* Serves as a resource supporting frontline team members and providers as appropriate.
* Supports clinical collaboration focusing on the expected patient length of stay.
* Performs direct patient care activities as required to meet operational needs.
* Interfaces with patients and families to enhance customer experience by conducting Nurse Leader rounds and investigating/responding to patient, family, and physician complaints.
* Participates in and/or leads safety huddles.
* Embraces, communicates, and promotes change and problem solving.
* Assesses equipment needs to ensure staff have the necessary equipment for patient care and can appropriately utilize equipment.
* Supports and sustains all leader-driven initiatives.
* Assists with retention strategies for new team members to foster a positive work environment.
* Maintains a regulatory-ready environment of care.
* Ensures the appropriate allocation and adjustment of staff, including assignment of meal breaks and relief of team members as indicated.
* Utilizes effective fiscal management skills and financial resources in decision-making.
* Maintains regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health and Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA, and other standards.
* Ensures compliance with all Baptist Health and Orlando Health policies and procedures.
* Supports strategic initiatives by attending leadership huddles, assisting with new nursing/clinical initiatives, and fostering positive multidisciplinary partnerships.
* Serves as a coach and mentor for the nursing team.
* Communicates ideas clearly and effectively in verbal and written formats to team members and groups.
* Fosters diversity, equity, and inclusion.
* Promotes a safe working environment; supports and/or coordinates follow-up related to WPV occurrences.
* Supports the Professional Practice Model.
* Demonstrates superior clinical and critical thinking skills for the assigned unit/department.
* Acts as a clinical expert and liaison to ensure care aligns with Baptist Health and Orlando Health policies and procedures.
* Participates in collecting unit/department data via audits to identify opportunities for improvement and trends.
* Promotes high-quality nursing practice supported by evidence-based practice, research, organization, and national standards.


Qualifications

Education/Training: Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Alabama or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Certification in area of expertise; preferred. May require certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC based on patient population.

Experience: Minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse; acute care setting preferred.
