Location: Basingstoke, Hampshire Job Type: Interim / Temporary Contract Start Date: ASAP Contract: Full-time, term-time only Recruiter: Teaching Personnel About the Role Teaching Personnel are seeking an experienced and dedicated SENDCo (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator) to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Basingstoke on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and organised SEND professional to make a positive impact on a school community that supports pupils aged 11–16 with additional needs, including SEMH and associated learning difficulties. As the school’s SENDCo, you will play a pivotal role in leading SEND provision, supporting staff with differentiation and strategies for inclusion, and ensuring the school meets statutory requirements under the SEND Code of Practice. Key Responsibilities Oversee and manage the SEND provision across the school, ensuring high standards of inclusion and support. Coordinate the identification, assessment, and support of pupils with additional needs. Lead the development and implementation of EHCPs and personalised learning plans. Work closely with SLT, teachers, support staff, external agencies, and parents/carers. Provide training and guidance to staff to promote best practice in supporting pupils with SEMH and SEND needs. Ensure all statutory documentation and records are accurate and up to date. The Ideal Candidate Will Have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience in a SENDCo or inclusion leadership role. NASENCo qualification (or working towards it). Experience working with pupils with SEMH and complex needs. Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and safeguarding frameworks. Excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skills.
