We encourage early applications to ensure consideration for a post., Hywel Dda University Health Board is looking for a committed and capable General Practitioner to join our Out of Hours / Urgent Primary Care Service. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering the highest-quality clinical care to patients across West Wales, with a focus on providing treatment as close to home as possible.
This is a senior clinical role, where you will lead by example, offer supervision, training and support to colleagues, and help maintain a safe, effective and collaborative working environment. You'll be part of a growing team focused on developing a robust, responsive and forward-thinking urgent care service for the population of West Wales.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for assessing and managing patients with urgent and complex needs, either virtually or face-to-face, ensuring care is delivered safely and effectively. Strong clinical judgement and clear communication are essential, alongside a commitment to evidence-based practice, audit and safeguarding.
The role encompasses more than delivering high-quality patient care. It requires confident clinical leadership, sound decision-making, and the ability to support and guide colleagues in real time. As the senior clinician on shift, you will be instrumental in maintaining clinical standards, fostering teamwork, and ensuring the service runs safely and effectively. About the Board
Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:
* Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
* Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
