Job Purpose
This rare and exciting opportunity has arisen within United Utilities to join our Charges Team, due to the promotion of the current role holder. This role will assist in developing and communicating the charging strategies that United Utilities uses in setting charges to customers, which involves engagement with multiple teams across United Utilities, customers and regulators. There will be potential for further progression for the correct applicant.
The role would ideally suit a customer focused individual with a background in policy development and analysis.
Supporting the Charges Team, in developing customer charges and charging policy, and to support the annual charges setting and publication process.
Ensuring that responses to queries accurately reflect charging policy and that charging policy is applied appropriately. Making sure that complex customer issues are dealt with efficiently and effectively.
Ensuring that data is accurately analysed and interpretated, for use within customer communications and submissions to regulators. Also to provide project management support for the team as required.
Production and analysis of data to assist key policy decisions to be made by senior management.
Provide recommendations relating to complex customer queries and internal requests.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* Ownership of the process to co-ordinate the annual review of non-primary charges – this includes arranging and attending meetings, escalating issues, undertaking research, and challenging where necessary.
* Support responses to complex customer queries in relation to the company’s charging policy – this also includes issues escalated internally, or by Ofwat, the Consumer Council for Water or other external stakeholders.
* Own the process to update and develop charging guidance documents, which are used by the customer service team. This includes monitoring the areas of charging policy that are generating queries, to educate and improve understanding within the company.
* Ensuring accuracy and comprehension of regulatory reporting documents, including proof reading and providing feedback to the Regulatory Reporting Manager as necessary.
Technical Skills & Experience
* Skills in policy development and analysis, and presentation of data
* Diligence in undertaking research and analysing policy information and data – good attention to detail
* Some understanding of charges and tariffs policies, including an understanding of the billing process and systems.
* Some knowledge of the Business Retail market, Household market and Developer Services, and an overall knowledge of the water industry.
