Offer description

We are looking for a Community, Participation & Volunteering Co‑ordinator to join the team at Ormesby Hall on a 12 month fixed term contract. Ormesby Hall sits within 248 acres in the densely populated urban area of South Tees and will be the main office base. However, the role also covers Tees Valley and the North Yorkshire Moors and Coast, an area of over 6,000 acres comprising moorland, coast, and woodland. The role will support the wider team and wider communities to reduce barriers to end unequal access to Nature, Culture and Heritage.

Working Hours: 30 hours per week

Contract Type: This is a fixed term contract due to end when the postholder returns to the role. At this point we cannot confirm exactly how long this contract will last, but it is unlikely to be more than 12 months.

Working Pattern: This role will involve some weekend working.

What it's like to work here

You will be joining a team of six and working alongside other teams to understand how Culture, Nature and Audience Experience are part of a shared story. From our historic house and collections to our moorland and coastline, we need you to support the team and volunteers in co‑curating partnerships, programmes and experiences that reflect the diversity and richness of the communities we serve.

What you'll be doing

As Community, Participant and Volunteering Co‑ordinator, you will manage and support our volunteers here at Ormesby Hall, as well as facilitate community group activities and relationships.

You will support the team by recruiting and inducting new volunteers, as well as widening and diversifying opportunities for local communities to participate. Your role will feed into the work we do to ensure every child grows up with opportunities to explore nature and experience wonder. Our communities should feel welcome and heard, and our staff and volunteers should feel valued and supported.

Who we're looking for

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

* an understanding of community engagement, participatory practice, and volunteer engagement, management, and innovation
* excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, including the ability to coach and support others and work collaboratively across teams
* a proactive, empathetic, and inclusive approach
* confidence in using data and insight to guide decisions, with experience of improving and innovating processes and systems
* self‑motivation and confidence working independently, with the ability to take initiative and manage your own workload effectively
* knowledge of relevant legislation, including safeguarding, GDPR, and equality
* excellent organisational and planning skills to deliver team priorities
