This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives on keeping operations running smoothly behind the scenes. You will support the Maintenance Manager in overseeing all aspects of hotel maintenance, ensuring the property, equipment, and guest facilities are maintained to the highest standard.
About the Role As the Assistant Maintenance Manager, you will lead the day-to-day operations of the Maintenance Department, coordinating a team of skilled engineers and working closely with external contractors. Youll ensure all planned and reactive maintenance is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities Oversee and supervise engineers in completing all maintenance tasks, including PPM and reactive work
Manage and liaise with external contractors for service and repair projects
Ensure all maintenance issues logged via Hotelkit are resolved promptly or scheduled appropriately
Lead team meetings and represent the Maintenance Manager when required
Maintain safe storage and stock control of tools, equipment, and chemicals in line with company procedures
Support recruitment, training, and performance management within the maintenance team
Monitor departmental costs and work with the Property Manager to remain within budget
Plan maintenance shifts effectively and ensure clear communication across departments
Promote a safe, compliant, and productive working environment
Respond professionally to guest requests and escalate issues when necessary
What Were Looking For Essential Previous maintenance experience in a hotel or similar environment
Relevant City & Guilds building qualifications
Strong knowledge of statutory legislation (fire, electrical, Health & Safety)
Good organisational and administrative skills
Strong verbal and written English (GCSE Level C or equivalent)
Numerate to GCSE Level C or equivalent
Demonstrates initiative, assertiveness, and strong teamwork
Good knowledge of hotel plant
Health & Safety qualification
Desirable Good PC skills, including Microsoft Office
Mechanical or electrical qualifications
Train the Trainer certificate
