This newly created, part-time role supporting the governance of Uppingham School, is well suited to someone who enjoys applying senior-level governance or board experience in a focused, thoughtful way. Working closely with the Bursar and Clerk to the Trustees, you will become a trusted part of the governance function, supporting the School’s Trustees in carrying out their responsibilities with clarity and confidence. Your work will centre on preparing and supporting Trustee and Committee meetings, handling agendas and papers with care, and producing clear, accurate minutes that form the formal record of decisions and discussion. The quality of this work matters. It is relied upon by Trustees and senior leaders and plays a meaningful role in the long-term stewardship of the School. Although the role is part-time and term-time only, it carries senior responsibility and a high level of professional trust. You will work within a small, collegiate governance team where expectations are clear, meetings are planned well in advance, and your judgement and experience are respected. The role offers autonomy, balance and purpose, alongside the satisfaction of contributing quietly but significantly to the life and leadership of Uppingham School. About you You will have experience supporting boards, trustees or senior committees and will be comfortable working with discretion, sound judgement and accuracy. Good governance matters, as does producing clear, well-judged minutes that capture decisions and key discussion. The role may suit someone seeking term-time or reduced-hours work after a full-time career, returning to work after a break, or combining this post with other professional commitments. An appreciation of education, professionalism and Uppingham School’s values will matter as much as technical experience.
