Overview
Applications are invited for the position of Community Learning Disability Charge Nurse in the Learning Disability Additional Support Team (AST) based at the Red Lodge, Larbert. The Additional Support Team are recruiting two Band 6 nursing staff; a full-time post of 37 hours per week for a highly motivated and experienced RNLD. Knowledge of Mental health, Autism and a trauma informed approach is desirable. Training or a commitment to undergo training in recognised psychological intervention, forensic and crisis interventions are required.
Responsibilities
* Be accountable to the Learning Disability AST Team Lead.
* Provide expert supplementary support to existing community learning disability teams for individuals with severe and/or enduring challenging behaviour, autistic spectrum disorder, mental illness and offending behaviour.
* Promote care planning and risk management for people with Learning Disabilities who may offend, enabling inclusion, choice, independence and rights within legal frameworks.
* Carry a caseload within both the forensic and crisis specialities of the AST.
* Demonstrate case load management, autonomy, and the ability to work across teams and services.
* Demonstrate leadership and collaborative working through relevant professional development.
* Demonstrate IT literacy and a willingness to travel throughout the service area.
Qualifications and requirements
* Registered as a Learning Disability Nurse (RNLD) is essential.
* Knowledge of policy trends and legislation within learning disabilities health and social care is required.
* Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is required.
* Experience in forensic issues and crisis intervention is advantageous.
* Training or commitment to training in recognised psychological interventions, forensic and crisis interventions is required.
* IT skills and willingness to travel across the area are essential.
