Job summary:
The role will involve carrying out technical laboratory-based operations to support both fish health monitoring and research into the expression of clinical chemistry and immunological biomarkers in fish serum.
Key tasks:
* Prepare and send sampling equipment to customer.
* Monitor reagent and consumables stock levels and place orders as required.
* Take receipt and registration of samples.
* Perform maintenance tasks on clinical chemistry analysers and other laboratory equipment.
* Perform calibrations and quality controls.
* Perform clinical chemistry testing of fish samples.
* Develop and follow standard operating procedures.
* Take part in routine laboratory cleaning and maintenance, including disposal of waste by established methods.
* Always adhere to good laboratory practice.
* Accurate completion of batch records and controlled document handling.
* Take ownership of personal training records.
* Assist with R&D projects
Essential qualifications, skills and experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in science (biology, molecular biology or equivalent)
* Knowledge of the basic principles, methods, materials, techniques, and definitions commonly used in chemical and biological laboratories.
* Relevant laboratory experience with clinical analysers.
* Experience working with and adhering to QMS processes.
* Solution-oriented, accurate and efficient.
* Good collaboration skills and capable of organising and prioritising own workload.
* Strong IT and Excel skills.
* Flexible attitude to work.
Desired qualifications, skills and experience:
* Understanding of fish health
* Experience with Roche Cobas instruments.
* Experience performing ELISA plate assays.
* Experience with LIMS systems.
* Ability to work shifts.
