Offer description

Pastoral Support Officer required as soon as possible Permanent, part time – 35 hours per week Term time only for 39 weeks per year; 38 weeks plus 5 INSET days Salary: Grade 5 (SCP 7-9) £26,403 - £27,254 per annum pro rata Actual Salary: £21,578 - £22,274 per annum Rugeley John Taylor School, part of John Taylor MAT, is proud to be growing the only ‘all-through’ school within our Trust family. Having opened our doors to our first cohort, we are continuing to build a school that will serve local communities from the earliest years right through to Sixth Form, offering a ‘gold standard’ learning experience. As we expand, we continue to embed the core features of John Taylor MAT that have become a hallmark of its success. We’re looking for a talented individual to help foster a positive and supportive learning environment for our young people. Your experience of pastoral care will place our students’ welfare at the heart of our school. With a further cohort of students joining us in September, this is a vital, high-profile role, and the post-holder will be required to work with colleagues across the school as well as from external agencies. Initially, in the summer term you will play a vital role in supporting Year 6 transition, to prepare students for the start of their education with us when they join in September, as well as building a strong foundation for future relationships throughout their time at Rugeley John Taylor School. In addition you will be required to support the wider team in helping identify and reducing the barriers to attendance for existing students. The right candidate will have immediate opportunities to work directly with students and parents in addressing matters relating to safeguarding, behaviour, mental health, and the provision of special educational needs. The successful candidate does not need to be an expert in these fields, but they do need to demonstrate an interest in learning about them alongside a determination to make sure every young person has access to provision which meets their unique needs. Excellent standards of organisation and prioritisation will be required, as well as an ability to always work in a calm and orderly manner. Often this work will require resilience and adaptability as the post-holder is required to respond to the immediate needs of a young person, their family or the colleagues working to support them. If you have any questions about this role, please contact recruitment@rjt.jtmat.co.uk Please see the recruitment pack for more details about Rugeley John Taylor and how to apply.
