We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our friendly team in Pharmacy stores, working within our goods receipt, distribution, and delivery service areas. You will undertake the secure and timely receipt, storage, and distribution of medicines within the Trust.
You will be responsible for receiving, unpacking, checking, and entering medicines onto the pharmacy computer system and any UK medicines verification database available, for all medicines purchased by the Trust. You will also undertake the specialist lifting and secure delivery of medicinal bulk fluids, medicines, and controlled drugs to wards and clinic areas. Additionally, you will work as part of the distribution team, ensuring all wards have adequate stock of medicines to treat patients.
You must be willing to work as part of multiple teams in Pharmacy Stores. A good level of fitness is required, as this job involves moving and handling bulky and heavy items. Previous experience is preferred but not essential; however, experience in lifting and handling inanimate objects is necessary. The role involves frequent walking and standing.
Pharmacy stores receive over 2000 medicines deliveries every month and supply stock medication to every ward and clinic at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The Pharmacy Department employs over 150 staff across a wide range of activities and roles. We are a large but friendly department, committed to helping each other to provide the best service to our patients.
Pharmacy Stores is the engine room of the department, ensuring all medicines are purchased, received, and supplied correctly and promptly to treat our patients. We are a small, friendly team working behind the scenes to enable all patients to receive the medication they need.
Pharmacy provides bespoke training packages for all roles and strongly advocates a 'grow our own' ethos.
