Murray Recruitment are recruiting a Bookkeeping Manager for our client based in North Lanarkshire.
Role Overview
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a small, established accountancy practice in a key leadership role. The successful candidate will bring a strong background in hands-on bookkeeping and SME finance, overseeing a team and delivering high-quality financial support to a diverse client portfolio.
This role will suit an experienced Office Manager or Finance Manager seeking to apply their skills in a dynamic and client-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a team of bookkeeping staff, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
* Oversee a personal client portfolio, delivering bookkeeping, quarterly accounts, payroll processing, and HMRC submissions.
* Prepare and present detailed management accounts for clients.
* Maintain bookkeeping records up to trial balance.
* Process and submit VAT returns and journals, and manage payroll functions.
* Serve as the main point of contact for client queries, providing exceptional service.
* Resolve escalated issues in a timely and professional manner.
* Promote continuous improvement through innovation and adoption of modern technologies.
Skills & Experience
* Minimum of five years’ experience in a bookkeeping or finance role within an SME.
* Strong leadership and team management abilities.
* Proficient in Sage; experience with Xero and QuickBooks is desirable.
* Confident user of Microsoft Office applications.
* Payroll experience is preferred, with training available if required.
* High attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Personable, approachable, and confident engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.
Offering
* Salary dependent on experience.
* 35-hour working week: Monday–Thursday (9:00–17:00) and Friday (8:30–16:00).
