The role is based in Burton-on-Trent, home to iconic products like Marmite, Bovril, Hellmann’s Mayonnaise, and Colman’s Mustard and Condiments.
JOB PURPOSE
We seek a skilled electrician to oversee electrical installations, maintenance, and documentation on site. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with UK electrical regulations, managing electrical safety, supervising contractors, and handling safety documentation, procedures, risk assessments, and permits. The candidate should be proficient with computer systems, capable of managing documentation, and compiling reports. Self-motivation and independent working skills are essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Electrical Installation Management: Oversee installation, maintenance, and inspection of electrical systems to ensure compliance with UK regulations such as the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations).
2. Safety and Compliance: Ensure all electrical work adheres to health and safety standards, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
3. Senior Authorised Person Duties: Issue and manage high voltage electrical permits, oversee switching operations, and ensure personnel safety around high voltage equipment.
4. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of electrical installations, inspections, and safety documentation, including Electrical Installation Certificates (EICs) and Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs).
5. Problem Solving: Detect and resolve electrical issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
6. Training and Development: Provide guidance and training to electrical personnel to keep them updated on safety standards and regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
* Certification in BS 7671 – 18th Edition.
* Extensive experience in electrical installation and maintenance.
* Strong understanding of UK electrical regulations and safety standards.
* Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
* Ability to interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
* Team player with a continuous improvement mindset.
* Computer literacy.
* AutoCAD 2D and 3D skills are a plus.
* Excellent communication skills.
