Overview

Anti-Social Behaviour Caseworker (Temp) – Cornwall Council. This public/customer-facing role provides a highly visible presence with foot patrols in Penzance Town Centre and surrounding areas. It liaises closely with the police and offers advice, support and assurance to businesses, shoppers and residents. The post works with organisations supporting community members with complex and vulnerable needs, including rough sleepers and street drinkers, building relationships with individuals while balancing support and, where necessary, enforcement.


Responsibilities

* Provide high-visibility foot patrols in Penzance Town Centre and surrounding areas/neighbourhoods.
* Offer practical advice and support to strengthen resolution of community based ASB.
* Lead case-building and coordinate partner agencies to resolve incidents of isolated or wider community ASB.
* Manage a caseload relating to anti-social behaviour within a multi-disciplinary Community Safety Team.
* Gather evidence and prepare paperwork for court; attend court to present cases as necessary.
* Collaborate with diverse statutory and non-statutory agencies, services and teams to tackle anti-social behaviour.
* Work closely with Police, local businesses and communities and key partner agencies, drawing on expertise and support to tackle ASB, including involvement in frontline operations and other interventions addressing community concerns.


What You’ll Need To Succeed

Being non-confrontational, the role requires calmness, confidence and the ability to diffuse challenging situations. Flexibility, resilience and organisational skills are essential, along with a good general level of education. You will also need to:

* Demonstrate good knowledge of ASB legislation and experience of partnership working among statutory and non-statutory agencies.
* Ability to work unsupervised and prioritise own workload through self-organisation.
* Experience of conflict management through effective communication and situational management.
* Experience of working as part of a team, preferably in the relevant functional area.
* Ability to make impartial decisions based on evidence.

Due to foot patrolling, the role holder must be physically fit and prepared to patrol in all weather conditions. A full valid driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.


Working Pattern

The role is a 12 month rolling contract, dependent on funding, with 37 hours per week based at the Safe & Well Hub (John Daniel Centre) in Penzance and opportunities to work from home at times. Some weekend and evening working is expected.
