About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Trainer/Assessor – Plumbing & Gas to support apprentices through high-quality coaching, mentoring, assessment and workplace visits. You will manage an agreed caseload of learners and play a key role in helping them achieve their apprenticeship in a timely and successful manner.
This role involves building strong relationships with both learners and employers, delivering training sessions, and ensuring all assessment and compliance requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and support a caseload of Plumbing & Gas apprentices through coaching, training and assessment
Complete regular progress reviews and provide feedback to learners, employers and colleagues
Act as the primary point of contact for learners and employers, maintaining strong professional relationships
Plan and deliver training sessions to develop learners’ knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs)
Prepare learners for assessment, gateway and End-Point Assessment (EPA)
Ensure accurate documentation, record keeping and compliance with awarding body standards
Conduct workplace assessments, including health & safety checks where required
Support the recruitment and onboarding of new learners
Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and college values at all times
Qualifications & Skills Required
Trainer/Assessor Level 1 (Entry Level)
Level 3 NVQ Plumbing or equivalent
Gas qualifications – minimum CCN1 and CENWAT
Trainer/Assessor Level 2
Level 3 relevant vocational qualification and relevant CPD
Level 3 TAQA or Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Qualifications (A1 or equivalent)
Level 3 Internal Quality Assurance Qualification
Requirements for All Levels
Level 3 TAQA or equivalent assessor qualification
Relevant industry-specific Plumbing/Gas qualifications
IOSH Managing Safely or ENTO H&S Units D & G (or willingness to undertake)
Willingness to update qualifications and CPD as required
Recent vocational experience or continuous professional development in the industry
Experience of working with employers professionally
Significant experience conducting assessments and achieving targets
Knowledge of current vocational qualification systems
Experience using e-portfolios
Strong communication, organisational and IT skills
