Job Title: Security Operations Engineer
Location: Reading/Hybrid
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum DOE

The Role
At TIEVA, we’re a fast‑growing, UK‑based hybrid IT provider focused on delivering secure, scalable and reliable technology. As a Security Operations Engineer you will be a key member of our Security Operations function, responsible for the day‑to‑day operation, monitoring, investigation and continuous improvement of customer security services. Working in an MSP environment, you will focus on threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management and security control optimisation across multiple customer estates.
You will collaborate closely with Network Operations, Service Desk, Projects and third‑party vendors to ensure that customer environments remain secure, resilient and fully aligned with SLA and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate and maintain security monitoring tools, perform alert triage and investigate potential incidents.
* Respond to security incidents, conduct forensic analysis and manage containment, eradication and recovery processes.
* Implement vulnerability management programs, assess risk and drive remediation across customer estates.
* Collaborate with technical teams and third‑party partners to investigate, escalate and resolve security incidents.
* Provide proactive, customer‑focused security guidance and improvements.
* Support firewall and network security controls (Fortinet experience preferred).
Core / Strongly Preferred
* Hands‑on experience in a Security Operations Centre, MDR or MSP environment with a strong background in incident investigation.
* Practical knowledge of modern security technologies including EDR/XDR, Microsoft 365 security, cloud security platforms and investigation workflows.
* Solid understanding of common attack techniques, vulnerability management and incident investigation methodologies.
* Experience collaborating across technical teams and with third‑party security partners.
* Proactive, customer‑focused mindset with strong communication skills.
* Experience supporting firewall and network security controls (Fortinet preferred).
Certifications (one or more preferred)
* Microsoft SC‑200 (Security Operations Analyst) or equivalent Hands‑On SecOps experience.
* CompTIA Security+, CySA+ or equivalent cybersecurity certification.
* Fortinet Certified Professional.
* Email security / threat protection certifications or experience (e.g., Mimecast, Microsoft Defender for Office 365).
* Other industry security certifications or demonstrable practical experience in Security Operations.
* Active pursuit of further cybersecurity certifications and professional development.
Desirable (Not Mandatory)
* Experience with SOAR tools and security automation.
* Exposure to vulnerability scanning platforms and risk management processes.
* Experience in a multi‑customer MSP environment.
Technical Expertise
* Security monitoring, alert triage and incident response.
* Firewall security services, VPNs and secure remote access.
* Vulnerability remediation and risk reduction.
* Structured incident, problem and change management.
* Security hardening and configuration best practice.
