SEMH Behaviour Mentor
Salary: GBP90 – GBP95 per day (Full‑time, Term Time Only)
Start Date: Immediate / April 2026
Are you a Psychology graduate or a Youth Worker looking to transition into a clinical or educational career? Use your experience in mentorship and emotional intelligence to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is more than a job: it is a foundation for a career in Educational Psychology, Social Work, or Teaching.
Your Gateway to a Specialist Career
For many young people, traditional classrooms feel out of reach. As an SEMH Behaviour Mentor, you aren’t just managing conduct; you are decoding the why behind the behaviour. We are looking for resilient individuals: from Psychology graduates to ex‑Sports Coaches who want to gain high‑level experience in a specialist SEN environment.
* Career Progression: Perfect for those seeking hours for a Doctorate in Educational Psychology or a PGCE.
* Specialist CPD (2026): Gain certified training in Trauma‑Informed Practice, Team:Teach (De‑escalation), and Mental Health First Aid.
* Weekly Pay: Competitive daily rates (GBP90 – GBP95) paid via Randstad with no umbrella company hidden fees.
* Supportive Community: Work alongside SENCOs and Speech and Language Therapists in a resource‑rich, collaborative hub.
The Role: Mentoring with Purpose
In this full‑time role, you will act as a 1:1 specialist for students with ADHD, ASD, and Attachment Disorders.
* Build Therapeutic Alliances: Use a Relational Approach to build trust with students who have disengaged from learning.
* Behaviour Intervention: Implement Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans and help pupils manage emotional triggers.
* Small Group Support: Facilitate Nurture Groups focusing on social skills, resilience, and emotional literacy.
* Progress Tracking: Maintain detailed logs on student engagement to support EHCP reviews.
Essential Requirements
* Education/Experience: A degree in Psychology, Sociology, or Criminology OR 1+ years of experience in Youth Work/Social Care.
* Resilience: The ability to handle challenging verbal and physical behaviours with a calm, non‑judgemental can‑do attitude.
* Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with parents, teachers, and external healthcare professionals.
* Compliance: An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (we can assist with a new application if required).
