Primary Teacher (0095) Location: North Somerset Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Hours: 40 hours per week Salary: £32,916 – £49,232 (M1 – UPS2) Start Date: September 2026 We are opening a brand-new specialist school in Autumn 2026 and are seeking an experienced and passionate Primary Teacher to join us at an exciting stage of development. This is a rare opportunity to help shape a new educational environment from the very beginning. The school will provide a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious setting for children and young people aged 5–19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Our vision is to create a safe, enriching and aspirational environment where every learner can thrive. As the school is currently in development, site visits are not yet possible. However, informal discussions about the role are welcomed. The Role As a Primary Teacher, you will deliver high-quality teaching and learning for pupils with Autism and associated needs, ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed. You will plan engaging lessons, set personalised targets, and work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to create a positive and supportive learning environment. Key Responsibilities Planning and delivering differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs Monitoring pupil progress and reporting to parents, carers, and senior staff Leading on a subject or curriculum area and supporting colleagues Managing and supervising classroom support staff Maintaining compliance with safeguarding, equality, and health & safety policies About You We are looking for an experienced primary teacher with a strong track record of supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Applicants should demonstrate expertise in adapting teaching approaches to meet a wide range of learning needs and delivering high-quality inclusive provision. Essential Qualifications Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent Essential Experience Experience working with pupils with SEND, ideally Autism Strong knowledge of the national curriculum up to GCSE level Skilled in planning, assessment, and classroom management Ability to remain calm, resilient and positive in a challenging environment Desirable Postgraduate qualification in Autism or SEN Experience working in a specialist or special school setting How to Apply Please complete the application form in full, including all employment and education history, and provide a supporting statement outlining your suitability for the role.
