Are you a safety-conscious professional with a passion for maintaining a secure work environment? This leading university in the heart of London is seeking a talented Interim Health and Safety Lead (Projects) to play a crucial role in overseeing and supporting health and safety compliance across their diverse range of construction, maintenance, and facilities projects.
This is a contract position running until mid August, working hours are Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm (36.5 hours per week).
Responsibilities
* Providing expert advice and assistance to project teams, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and industry best practices.
* Collaborating with key stakeholders to develop and implement robust safety standards, processes, and procedures.
* Monitoring adherence to CDM 2015 regulations and supporting the client's duties under the law.
* Fostering a strong, visible safety culture through site engagement, behavior-based leadership, and ongoing dialogue.
* Embedding "Safety in Design" principles in the early stages of planning and design.
* Auditing, inspecting, and analysing safety performance data to identify trends and develop targeted mitigation strategies.
* Delivering training and safety briefings tailored to the unique needs of the university environment.
* Liaising with internal health and safety colleagues to align with the overall safety strategy.
Qualifications
* CMIOSH – Chartered Member of the Institute of Safety and Health.
* NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction Certificate.
* Extensive experience in interpreting and applying complex construction health and safety requirements.
* Strong understanding of the Construction, Design and Management (CDM) Regulations.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
