We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist with experience in Cancer Biology/Immunology to join the Oncology Translational Research team within GSK Oncology TA. The successful candidate will be part of a team that evaluates patient-derived tissues using cutting-edge cellular, molecular, and genomic techniques. This role involves partnering with AI/ML and analytics experts to integrate data from these multimodal approaches, aiming to improve cancer patient risk stratification, identify clinical biomarkers, and predict susceptibilities to targeted and/or immunotherapies.

Please note this position is lab based.

In this role you will

* Drive our Patient Derived Explant (PDE) multi-omics capabilities to support the progression of GSK assets, understand mechanisms of action, and evaluate treatment combinations.

* Design and perform experiments using fresh and biobanked tumor samples, including assay optimization, validation and experimental implementation.

* Apply a range of imaging (e.g. multiplex immunofluorescence), cell and molecular (e.g, MSD, ELISA, flow cytometry, etc) and multi-omics technologies (e.g. spatial transcriptomics, RNAseq) to generate translational data.

* Collaborate with leaders in the Oncology Translational Research team and cross-functional teams (AI/ML, Precision Medicine, etc.) to ensure alignment and integration of our capabilities with other functions.

* Take leadership of specific work packages and independently drive them to achieve high-quality results, bringing innovative ideas and tackling challenging problems.

* Provide technical expertise and support to team members, ensuring effective management of samples and data generated in translational and clinical experiments.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications & Skills

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

* PhD or equivalent experience in Cancer Biology, Immuno-Oncology, or a related field.

* Significant hands-on experience with complex immunology experimental approaches (e.g., complex co-culture, ex vivo testing from patient samples) and related techniques such as cell culturing, MSD/ELISA and flow cytometry.

* Strong background in developing and applying Cell and Molecular technologies to study cancer biology, including the molecular mechanisms underlying tumorigenesis and cancer progression.

* Hands on experience with fresh and frozen tissue samples, including preservation and sectioning (FFPE and FF) for imaging experiments.

* Experience in performing cyclic multiplex immunofluorescence imaging experiments independently. Prior experience with image analysis would be advantageous.

* Excellent communication skills to engage with team members and senior stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply:

* A track record of scientific Publication.

* Experience in collaboration with biopharma.

* Experience in spatial transcriptomics.

* Excellent leadership and communication skills.

* Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex scientific and business challenges.
