Description
We’re looking for a Junior Kitchen Manager to join the Butlin's Buffets Department based in Skegness. Reporting to the Kitchen Manager, you will support the running of the kitchen and help lead a large team of chefs. You will step up in the Kitchen Manager’s absence. You will monitor guest experience regularly, developing action plans and driving continuous improvement. Your leadership will support and grow your team through daily briefings, stock control, and food presentation reviews. Financial performance will be a key focus, as you will deliver food cost budgets through menu planning, cooking to standards, and specification management. You will also uphold food hygiene, health and safety, and industry legislation compliance. As a role‑model for Butlin’s unique way of working, you will maintain training schedules and performance plans, inspiring the team to deliver a great guest experience. Key responsibilities also include operating the main buffet restaurant serving half‑board guests, managing high‑volume service for up to 3000 guests, and ensuring the live standards of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the kitchen operation and step up during the Kitchen Manager’s absence.
* Lead and develop a team of chefs, providing daily briefings and training.
* Monitor guest experience, develop action plans and drive continuous improvement.
* Control stock, review food presentation and maintain high standards.
* Deliver food cost budgets via menu planning, cooking to standards and specification.
* Ensure food hygiene, health and safety – compliance with legislation and company policy.
* Maintain training schedules and performance development plans.
* Serve up to 3000 guests per buffet service, working fast‑paced and organized.
* Manage margins and control costs, and oversee health, safety and hygiene.
* Work a 5‑day week within a 7‑day schedule covering 40 hours, including evenings and weekends.
Qualifications
* Minimum Level 3 Food Safety qualification.
* Experience in a similar role with large-volume turnaround.
* Strong leadership, time‑management and organisational skills.
* Energetic, enthusiastic, high‑spirited, fun‑loving, and a team player.
* Reliability, determination, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
