SEN Tutor – Primary / Secondary
Location: Kingston Borough (Home or Community Based)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm (Term Time Only)
Daily Rate: £140 – £180 depending on experience/qualifications
Part-Time Options Available (minimum 3 days per week or mornings/afternoons only)
We are seeking dedicated SEN Tutors to deliver personalised 1:1 support to children and young people with Special Educational Needs or those who are school refusers, in and around Kingston.
This role is ideal for qualified teachers, HLTAs, or experienced unqualified tutors with a strong background in supporting vulnerable learners.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver individualised tutoring sessions tailored to each student’s academic, emotional, and behavioural needs
* Support students with a range of SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, SpLD) or those disengaged from formal education
* Work closely with parents/carers and external agencies to monitor progress and adapt support accordingly
* Maintain accurate records of student engagement, attendance, and learning outcomes
* Ensure safeguarding procedures are always followed – parents/carers are present, and risk assessments are completed before starting
About the Role:
* Tuition is typically delivered face-to-face in the learner’s home, with a parent or carer always present
* Occasionally, sessions may take place in a local library or community centre, depending on the child’s needs and risk assessment outcomes
* We can match you with primary, secondary, or SEN learners based on your experience and preferences
* You will receive support from a friendly, experienced team and safeguarding leads throughout your placements
Candidate Requirements:
* QTS, HLTA status, or relevant tutoring/mentoring experience
* Strong SEN knowledge and the ability to adapt teaching strategies
* An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
(UET1)
