Job overview This role involves being a medical secretary and providing administrative support to two consultant psychiatrists based in South Gloucestershire region. You will be working alongside another medical secretary who is full time. We have a total of six other medical secretaries across BNSSG. You will work closely with other admin teams and clinical teams. This is a fast paced and varied role where you will be interacting with service users, carers and other health providers. A lot of role involves helping to manage the psychiatrists caseload through booking of appointments and typing clinic letters. Temporary position until Feb 2026 Advert Dealing with patient queries via phone/email Signposting and escalating to the correct professions Ensure the referrals to the service are managed in a timely manner and caseload are kept organised with patients having regular reviews Able to manage own caseload as well as shared inboxes Create letters from dictations Help with the induction of resident doctors into the service Creating meetings with multi-disciplinary teams Diary management of the consultant and resident doctors Providing coverage to the team during sickness and annual leave Using the patient data system EMIS to update records Support in collecting data and reports for legal documentation and reports Aiding in the transfer of patients between localities and in the discharge process.
