Risk Manager, The Rinks
Pay Details:
The annual base salary range for this position in California is $110,000 to $140,000 per year. The starting pay for the successful candidate depends on various job-related factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education/training, internal value, peer equity, external market demands, and organizational considerations.
The Risk Manager role reports to the General Counsel and partners with the legal and risk department of the Company’s parent Company regarding all aspects of the organization’s risk management programs. This role will manage The Rinks Foundation and Irvine Ice Foundation’s risk management activities, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. This role will compile, coordinate, and maintain underwriting information, and manage claims, occupational health and safety compliance, loss forecasting, and loss reduction. The Risk Manager will play a key role in analyzing and managing risks across all ice and roller rink locations. This role involves conducting risk assessments, developing risk mitigation strategies, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Responsibilities
1. Manage, plan, and coordinate programs to control risks and losses
2. Collaborate with the head of risk management at the Company’s parent Company to develop efficient reporting to ensure consistent and effective risk management and compliance programs across the organization.
3. Identify, evaluate, and implement corrective action against risks that may result in injury, property loss, damage, or legal liability
4. Analyze and classify risks according to frequency and potential severity and measure the financial impact of risk on the Company
5. Coordinate and provide training for team members in risk identification and avoidance measures
6. Recommend and implement risk management solutions such as safety and security policies
7. Draft and present risk reports and proposals to executive leadership and the parent Company’s head of risk management
8. Identify loss trends by developing loss control programs and training while determining solutions to minimize or eliminate risks
9. Assist with contract reviews and negotiations, including insurance requirements and indemnification clauses
10. Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of facilities, as well as site investigations for incidents
11. Prepare incident investigation reports with risk mitigation recommendations
12. Develop and implement standard operating procedures for the facilities and provide training or re-training to reduce risk exposures
13. Oversee the insurance certificate request process with each facility and work with insurance brokers on parameters for the requests
14. Maintain documentation, including policy information, claims files, and insurance certificates
15. Participate in claims management reviews with insurance adjusters, defense counsel, and insurance brokers
16. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards, including without limitation, OSHA
17. Develop and implement health and safety training programs for team members
18. Deep coordination with the Company’s legal department and Head of Risk Management of the Company’s parent Company in managing high-exposure claims and contracts
19. Provide updates to the General Counsel regarding claims, protocol development, and other Risk Management activities
20. Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the General Counsel
Skills
21. Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (professional certification such as Certified Risk Manager (CRM) is a plus
22. 5+ years of relevant work experience
23. Ice rinks and arena work experience preferred
24. Proven experience taking appropriate action or making decisions in ad hoc situations
25. Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
26. Strong organizational and project management skills
27. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly
28. Able to prepare clear, concise, and accurate reports and correspondence
29. Able to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team setting
30. Able to handle sensitive situations with compassion, tact, and confidentiality
