ICT Consultant
Location: Reading, Berkshire
Salary: £25,000 – £30,000
A well-established Educational Managed Service Provider (MSP) is seeking a skilled and service-focused ICT Consultant to support a number of its partner schools across Reading. If you’re someone who combines strong technical expertise with a passion for delivering excellent customer service, this is an ideal opportunity to grow within a supportive and education-focused IT environment.
About the Role:
As an ICT Consultant, you will be responsible for maintaining IT hardware, software, and services across multiple school sites. You’ll play a key role in helping schools enhance their ICT infrastructure to better support effective teaching and learning through technology.
In addition to hands-on technical support, you’ll act as a trusted advisor and primary contact between your schools and the MSP. You’ll ensure your schools are informed about available services, support account management, and contribute to ongoing improvements in ICT provision.
Key Responsibilities as the ICT Consultant
* Provide first and second-line technical support to users across school sites.
* Diagnose and resolve technical issues affecting school operations, offering robust and sustainable solutions.
* Install and repair computers, devices, and software in line with school requirements.
* Support and maintain a variety of equipment and services, including desktops, iPads, printers, projectors, telephony, scanners, AV equipment, and networking hardware.
* Upgrade and support existing installations across school ICT networks.
* Facilitate clear communication between schools and the MSP, managing client expectations and informing them of available services.
* Maintain a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for service improvement.
Ideal Candidate Profile for the ICT Consultant
* At least 2 years of experience in an ICT Technician or 2nd Line Support role, preferably within an educational environment (though not essential).
* Strong technical background, especially with Microsoft Office 365 and common user applications.
* Confident in managing school computer equipment and ICT systems.
* Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
* Organised, courteous, and self-motivated, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Proactive in identifying and implementing ways to improve IT services.
