Finance Officer
£26,834 - £27,736 per annum
40 Hours per week, 52 weeks per year
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join our Finance Team at Emerson College.
This is a varied role covering purchase ledger and wider finance functions for entities within the Ruskin Mill Land Trust, supporting Colleges, Schools, subsidiary companies, and the wider Trust. You will play a vital role in ensuring accurate financial processes and compliance, while contributing to our core purpose of improving the education and lives of young people.
Main Duties
* Process and maintain supplier and customer invoices using Access Financials.
* Prepare BACS/cheque payments and ensure suppliers are paid on time.
* Maintain petty cash records and oversee monthly/year-end close procedures.
* Reconcile supplier statements, manage queries, and maintain accurate creditor accounts.
* Record direct debits, standing orders, and utility costs, ensuring correct ledger coding.
* Undertake banking and post office visits when required.
* Provide cover for colleagues and support other sites with finance matters.
* Ensure compliance with Trust policies, safeguarding, and Health & Safety standards.
Requirements
* Experience as a Finance Administrator, Finance Officer or Purchase Ledger Clerk.
* AAT qualified or equivalent (or working towards).
* Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
* Excellent organisation, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as within a dispersed team.
* Flexible, adaptable, and proactive in approach.
