Advert EDUCATION, COMMUNITIES AND HOUSING Housing Services Out of Hours Accommodation Officer Permanent We have a vacancy for a dedicated individual, to join our Housing Services. We need to be able to respond quickly and effectively at all times when someone is homeless. Therefore, Housing Services wants to appoint someone who is responsible and enthusiastic to join our Out of Hours Accommodation Service as part of a small team. You will be able to react quickly to homelessness presentations outwith office hours, assist applicants and secure appropriate temporary accommodation before passing the case to our Homelessness and Advice Section to progress during office hours. To do this, you will require a broad range of experience of dealing with the general public, particularly in demanding situations and to be able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team. You will be on call two weeks out of every four weeks outwith office hours, that is after 5pm every weekday until 9am the following morning, and from 5pm on a Friday evening until 9am Monday morning. Public holiday cover will also apply. You will be required to attend training courses within and outwith Orkney. Salary in accordance with the Model Agreement on Out of Hours Working, currently £123.97 per week for each complete week of standby performed plus £41.32 for public holiday working and an additional £12.36 per hour for each callout (Monday-Friday) and £26.32/£35.87 for Saturday/Sunday. Mileage will also be paid. You should have a good general standard of education including literacy and numeracy. You must also hold the Professional Development Award in Housing Law for Advisors at Level 7 or complete at the next intake following appointment. A full driving licence is essential (please note the Council is committed to making reasonable adjustments so if you are unable to drive due to a disability your application will still be considered).
