About the role and about you
It's an exciting time to be working at HRP and its new strategic priority to be a charity for everyone. A key part of this is supporting Kensington Palace to become a valuable resource for its local community. The Kensington Enrichment Project is pioneering a new approach to working with schools to create a deeper academic, social and emotional impact and benefit local school communities. We are working in partnership with six local schools to develop programmes and relationships that will achieve this. A critical element to this project is the collaborative research-practise partnership, researching ways of supporting primary and secondary school students' academic, social, and cultural participation and development.
This role will work with the Schools Content team, HRP's Research Manager and UCL's Museum Studies dept to carry out in-depth research with project participants. This research will guide and inform the development of working practices and pedagogy throughout the project and assess its impact.
You will contribute to whole team project development work (developing design, methods, and delivery aspects of the project) and to the development of teacher partnerships and practice. You will set up and conduct fieldwork (with teachers and students), undertake research, conduct analysis and assist with publications.
What we're looking for
With a PhD (or equivalent level research experience) in a relevant field, you will have a strong interest and understanding of schools, teaching and pedagogical research, museum education/learning, evaluative methodological issues and/or teacher professional development and possess a sound knowledge of museum education and/or informal learning literature.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. You should also have experience of planning and delivering a postgraduate-level research project in a relevant discipline. Strong research and analytical skills are essential, including familiarity with a range of research approaches and methods, and experience of conducting qualitative research with teachers. You will be experienced in conducting interviews and/or focus groups and be able to communicate effectively with children and young people.
You will have proven experience of report writing and publication, good organisation and administration skills, including the ability to prioritise and multi-task.
You will be adept at building collaborative relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
