Job Description

Our client is seeking a Night Shift Worker to join their award-winning homelessness project in Burnley, providing short-term supported accommodation for people experiencing homelessness with complex needs.

Role Overview:You will play a vital role in delivering housing management functions within temporary accommodation, ensuring the health and safety of residents and the building. Your duties will include providing a safe and secure living environment, conducting regular building checks, and responding promptly to any incidents or urgent situations. You will also support residents in developing independent living skills to help them adhere to their licence agreements.

As part of the wider team, you will maintain accurate records and ensure clear, concise communication through handovers to day staff.

Key Responsibilities:

* Maintain a calm and safe environment where residents have the best chance to make positive changes.

* Support residents to adhere to their licence agreements and successfully complete their stay.

* Ensure residents feel treated with dignity, respect, and trauma-informed support.

* Complete timely and accurate building checks.

* Respond swiftly and appropriately to incidents using good judgement.

* Maintain clear, concise handovers between night and day teams.

* Help residents understand their rights and responsibilities during their stay.

* Provide timely housing management advice and signpost residents to keyworkers for additional support.

* Manage entry and visitors effectively.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

* Strong interpersonal communication skills.

* Ability to accurately record information using computerised systems, with risk assessment skills grounded in trauma-informed practice.

* Excellent time management and task prioritisation.

* Confidence and ability to de-escalate challenging situations calmly and professionally.

* Ability to work independently using initiative, while contributing positively to a passionate and supportive team.

* Accurate data entry and record-keeping skills.

* Empathy and non-judgemental approach to support residents towards positive change.

* Understanding of homelessness factors and experience promoting positive outcomes.

* Experience working with people who have diverse and complex needs in a challenging environment.

* Skilled in identifying needs, assessing risk, and taking appropriate action.

* Good knowledge of IT systems.
