This role is critical in ensuring that GSK can report tax balances in a timely and accurate manner, feeding into the overall Group Financial Statements.
It involves significant interaction with the Group Head of Tax, senior stakeholders, and finance colleagues worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
1. Group Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual tax balances under IFRS, disclosed in the annual report. Also responsible for consolidated tax balances and US GAAP translation for ViiV, reporting to Minority Interest shareholders.
2. Entity Reporting: Coordinate and oversee numerous legal entities to ensure smooth delivery of year-end tax balances. Drive process improvements and automation using technology (e.g., Alteryx, Power BI).
3. Forecasting ETR and Cash Tax: Analyze business and tax landscape changes to predict the group's effective tax rate and cash taxes.
4. Tax Risk Reporting: Manage the group tax risk reporting process, engaging with senior internal stakeholders and external providers.
5. Country by Country Reporting (CbCR): Prepare the public CbCR report and engage stakeholders to ensure accuracy.
6. Process Improvement: Lead changes to leverage ERP systems and coordinate with outsourcing providers for efficient tax reporting.
7. Mentoring: Support the development of junior staff and foster a thriving team environment.
8. Ad-hoc Projects: Undertake special projects as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
* Strong accounting and tax background (CIMA/ACA or equivalent)
* Basic understanding of international tax principles
* Proficient with accounting platforms
* Experience with large data sets and tools like Alteryx and Power BI is beneficial
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
* Excellent communication skills (oral and written) for global stakeholder engagement
* Ability to challenge processes and drive improvements
