We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our High Street Futures Project Team within the Local Area Committees. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of innovative high street and community initiatives that bring people together and help local businesses and communities thrive.
About the Role
As Assistant Project Officer, you will work closely with the Project Manager for Future High Streets, supporting the successful delivery of economic development strategies, plans, and projects. You’ll help coordinate consultation activities, build relationships with council teams, businesses, elected Members, and other key stakeholders, and ensure regular communication with all participants and partners. You’ll also support the integration of high street work into the day-to-day activities of Local Area Committees, strengthening links between LACs and the local business economy.
Your responsibilities will include supporting the delivery and coordination of projects, assisting with specific work streams, and helping implement project plans. Your role involves servicing meetings, maintaining effective communication, liaising with staff, community members, businesses, and partners, as well as managing and reporting on project data. You’ll organise events and site visits, produce clear reports and presentations, monitor project budgets, and undertake other duties as required.

The post would require the ability to work flexibly across the city using hybrid working with the ability to work in council offices and from home. In addition to visiting businesses and carrying out site visits to various shopping areas.
