Job Summary
Swansea Bay UHB Infection Prevention & Control Service is seeking a motivated, forward-thinking, and highly experienced NMC registered nurse to join the Decontamination and Infection Prevention & Control Team.
The post holder will work alongside the Matron-Operational Decontamination Lead to ensure a robust decontamination service across the Health Board. Responsibilities include managing workload, working across professional, organisational, agency, and system boundaries to improve services, and developing practice. The role requires autonomous working as well as teamwork.
This is a permanent, full-time position (37.5 hours), primarily based at Neath Port Talbot Hospital, covering the acute and community settings of Swansea Bay University Health Board, with travel across all sites.
Main Duties
The post holder will aim to become a specialised practitioner in all aspects of decontamination, providing support and advice across disciplines. They will work independently within professional and clinical boundaries, support the Matron-Operational Decontamination Lead with professional leadership, and assist in developing policies and procedures for decontamination of reusable medical devices. Responsibilities also include auditing decontamination standards, supporting improvement plans, and delivering training and education. Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential)
* Registered Nurse & current NMC registration
* Bachelor's Degree
* Specialist postgraduate qualification in decontamination or Infection Prevention & Control
Clinical Experience (Essential)
* Interest/experience in decontamination and IP&C
* Experience in multidisciplinary team working
* Experience developing policies, facilitating change, conducting audits
Other Criteria & Abilities (Essential)
* Flexible working to meet business needs
* Ability to travel across UHB sites
* Awareness of NHS developments
* Leadership, communication, presentation skills
* Effective time management and IT skills
