Purchaser – Bedford As a Purchaser, you will take ownership of the procurement process across a range of structural and architectural steelwork projects. You’ll ensure that the right materials are sourced, purchased, and delivered to support project requirements while maintaining cost-effectiveness and quality. Key Duties: Sourcing and procuring steel, fixings, and associated materials for fabrication and installation Negotiating with suppliers to achieve the best pricing, quality, and lead times Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships Scheduling and coordinating deliveries to meet production and project deadlines Monitoring stock levels and ensuring timely reordering of materials Preparing and issuing purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company procedures Working closely with the design, production, and site teams to align procurement with project needs Monitoring supplier performance and resolving any supply chain issues Supporting budget control and cost reporting through accurate procurement records Ensuring all materials and suppliers meet required safety and compliance standards The Candidate: Proven experience in purchasing/procurement within the steelwork, construction, or engineering industries Strong negotiation and supplier management skills Good knowledge of steel and construction materials Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple orders and deadlines Strong communication skills for liaising with internal teams and external suppliers Proficient in Microsoft Office and procurement/order systems Location & Projects: Office-based in Bedford Projects across London and the Home Counties This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected steelwork company, taking on a key role in ensuring projects are delivered on time and to the highest standard.
