Summary:
We are delighted to be supporting a primary healthcare centre in their search for a Care Navigator / Receptionist. As a key point of contact for patients and visitors, the Care Navigator will provide exceptional customer service both over the phone and in person. This role involves managing a high volume of calls in a fast-paced environment, as well as offering Front of House support to individuals who may be experiencing distress or presenting challenging behaviours.
Key responsibilities:

Provide front of house support, welcoming patients and visitors and assisting those who may be distressed or challenging.

Act as the primary point of contact via telephone and in person, managing enquiries and directing patients appropriately.
*
Schedule, amend, and cancel appointments accurately.
*
Assist with patient registrations and provide information on practice procedures, including complaints.
*
Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality in line with GDPR.
*
Handle medication sign-in/sign-out and process deliveries and patient specimens.
*
Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns following practice protocols.
*
Support training and onboarding of new staff.
*
Provide cover for Call Centre and Front of House teams during staff absences or busy periods.
*
Participate in team meetings and contribute to ongoing practice development.
*
Perform additional duties as needed to ensure smooth and efficient practice operations.
Ideal Candidate:
• Maths GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent) — Desirable
• Qualifications at A Level standard — Desirable
• IT qualification (e.g., CLAIT, ECDL, or equivalent) — Desirable
• Experience handling telephone calls — Essential
• 3+ years’ experience in a customer-focused role — Desirable
• Experience in General Practice or Primary Care — Desirable
• Experience handling complaints and managing volatile situations — Desirable
• Proficient in Microsoft Word — Essential
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel — Desirable
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook — Desirable
• Familiarity with Clinical Computer Systems such as SystmOne (TPP) — Desirable
• Basic understanding of Medical Terminology — Desirable
