We have an exciting opportunity for a Health Care Support Worker to join our fantastic team on the Children's Ward.

Shifts follow the standard ward pattern, offering a varied and rewarding working environment.
As part of our commitment to your development, you will be fully supported to build your skills and knowledge within the clinical setting. You'll also have access to training through the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). The Children's Ward actively supports career progression, and you may have the opportunity to be considered for the Trainee Nursing Associate (TNA) programme.

Main duties of the job
Role
As a Health Care Support Worker you will help patients feel as comfortable and stress-free as possible. You'll work under the guidance of a healthcare professional such as a nurse and your job will vary depending on the ward you are based, but overall a typical day as a Health Care Support Worker in this role will involve:
Recording of observations
Contribute to patient assessments
Provide care for children, young people and families attending the ward/day surgery

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
In this role, you will work alongside our registered nurses to deliver high‑quality, compassionate care to children and young people, based on their assessed needs and individual care plans.
Duties
This is a busy and varied position where teamwork is essential. You'll help balance a range of tasks that can change throughout the day, ensuring our patients and their families feel supported and safe. Your daily duties may include:
Monitoring vital signs such as blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation and temperature
Supporting children and young people throughout their stay in hospital
Liaising sensitively and professionally with families
Monitoring and recording food and fluid intake
Communicating effectively and using de‑escalation techniques when needed
Carrying out glucose monitoring
Supporting young people experiencing mental health challenges
Contributing to children's safeguarding processes
Providing supportive meal assistance for children and young people with eating disorders
Accurately documenting all care and actions in patient notes
