At Almond Care, we specialise in supporting both adults and children with complex needs to live independently – in the comfort of their own homes. Now, we’re on the lookout for dedicated Complex Care Assistants in Nuneaton, CV10 to join our outstanding team supporting a client with an acquired Brain Injury, so if you have experience with this or a similar condition, you would be perfect for her.
Pay: From £12.75 per hour
Shifts:
7am to 7pm (12 hour days) on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
Job Purpose:
To provide consistent, person-centred care and rehabilitation support to a client living with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), promoting independence, safety, emotional wellbeing, and social inclusion within their home and community.
Personal Care and Daily Living Support:
* Assist with personal hygiene tasks, including washing, dressing, toileting, and grooming as required.
* Support with meal preparation, feeding, and hydration as needed.
* Support with mobility, including the safe use of mobility aids or transfer equipment.
* Assist with medication administration and health monitoring, following training.
Rehabilitation and Cognitive Support:
* Implement and support rehabilitation goals set by therapists (e.g., speech, OT, physiotherapy).
* Encourage the client to engage in cognitive tasks and routines that enhance independence.
* Support with memory prompts, attention aids, and structure to daily life.
Communication and Behaviour Support:
* Use clear, appropriate communication techniques, including visual aids or augmentative tools if required.
* Provide reassurance, consistency, and emotional support in line with the client’s behavioural needs.
* Respond calmly and professionally to any emotional or behavioural challenges associated with ABI.
Community and Social Involvement:
* Support the client in accessing the community, attending appointments, or engaging in hobbies and social activities.
* Promote social interaction and reduce isolation through companionship and encouragement.
Documentation and Team Working:
* Maintain accurate records of care provided, incidents, and any relevant observations.
* Work collaboratively with therapists, family members, case managers, and healthcare professionals.
* Adhere to the client's care plan and follow safeguarding and confidentiality procedures.
* Right to work in the UK.
* Good level of spoken and written English.
* Patience, empathy, and understanding of cognitive and emotional challenges.
* Willingness to learn and undertake specialist training (e.g., ABI awareness, PBS).
* Reliable, flexible, and capable of working both independently and within a team.
