Electronics Team Lead opportunity to join as a key member of the senior leadership and management team, the company specialise in life saving equipment - you will be responsible for setting the design standards for the electronics team and be the interface between the electronics team and the rest of the business.
The client have offices in both Cambridge and Hertfordshire - the client are anticipating approximately four days per week working onsite (although there is flexibility here) at either of the locations. This position is key for the business as you will be responsible for ensuring the success of the electronics development team's contributions, working alongside manufacturing and production department heads where necessary. The majority of your time will be spent on leading the planning and refinement of the work plans within the team. You will be oversee delivery of planned work from your team and help resolve issues therein. management, mentoring, coaching, development (objectives, skills matrix, training plan & budget), and recruitment. Owner of working relationships with third-party suppliers (e.g. EMC test houses, PCBA design agencies, etc.) - people acting as a logical extension to your team capacity. You will be Act as a Design Authority for the business electronics capability, you will be ensuring working practices, procedures & processes for your domain are well documented and adhered whilst owning the budget, acquisition & management/maintenance of tools & systems related to your team/domain (e.g. Altium, scopes, etc.).
The Electronics team currently comprises of three development engineers although this will grow under your leadership, in a given week approximately one day per week will be working hands on, one day personal management and the rest will be completing the above planning and management activities. One example task would be managing the Bill of materials and ensuring solutions and mitigations are in place for for obselete components, any experience having worked in life cycles through to the manufacturing stages of the life cycle is very beneficial as is exposure working in regulatory environments (CE/ EMC).
The interview process is an initial call with the technical director, followed by a meeting with the MD and technical director, following completion of these you will have the opportunity to meet the Electronics Engineers and team as a formality.
