Job Description
The Role
Hands-on engineering role within a plastic extrusion and compounding plant. The focus is electrical and automation, with mechanical work required on production machinery. The role is centred on keeping plant and equipment running through effective fault-finding, repair, and improvement of process machinery and site electrical systems.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Maintain and repair extrusion and compounding equipment, including single and twin-screw extruders, haul-offs, granulators, mixers, pelletisers, and heating/cooling systems.
* Connect to PLCs (Siemens, Schneider, etc.) to fault-find, make logic changes where required, and back up programs.
* Diagnose and work on large DC and AC motors, including setting up and fault-finding VFDs and inverter drives.
* Carry out mechanical fitting work on production lines, including gearboxes, shafts, alignment, bearings, and basic hydraulics.
* Support and lead electrical work on new machinery installations and plant upgrades.
* Take ownership of automation and control-related issues on site.
