Job Description
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team in Darlington. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with challenging behaviour in an specialist educational setting.
Job Duties:
Provide one-to-one support to students with challenging behaviour, both in the classroom and during extracurricular activities
Implement behaviour management strategies and interventions as directed by the SENCO or teacher
Assist in the development and implementation of individualised behaviour plans
Support students in developing social and emotional skills
Monitor and record students' behaviour and progress, providing regular feedback to the SENCO and teaching staff
Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure a consistent approach to behaviour management
Provide a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students
Assist with the preparation and adaptation of learning materials
Supervise students during breaks, lunchtimes, and outings
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
Experience:
Prior experience working with students with challenging behaviour, preferably in an educational or support setting
Knowledge and Skills:
Understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies
Knowledge of special educational needs and inclusive practises
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations
Strong organisational and time management skills
Patience and empathy towards students with complex needs
Preferred Qualifications:
Higher level qualification in Education, Psychology, or a related field
Additional training in behaviour management or special educational needs
Working Conditions:
The Behaviour Support Assistant will primarily work within an educational environment. The role may require occasional travel to attend meetings or training sessions. The assistant will work full-time hours. The ability to work flexibly and adapt to the changing needs of students is essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
