The Key Medical Practice sits at the heart of its community in Kidlington, providing accessible, high-quality primary care to the patients and families who depend on it. The team delivers the full breadth of primary care services, from routine appointments and chronic disease management to urgent care and preventative health, ensuring every patient receives safe, effective, and compassionate support. Working closely with operational managers and senior leadership, the team oversees patient care delivery, appointment coordination, clinical record management, and service performance monitoring.

The practice ensures that all services remain aligned with NHS standards and regulatory requirements, while upholding a commitment to delivering accessible, patient-centred care to the Kidlington community.

Main duties of the job The GP provides safe, effective, and high-quality patient care within a supportive environment. Working alongside an experienced mentor, the role focuses on developing clinical confidence and competence while contributing to routine practice operations. The GP will share an equal workload, support one or two areas of special interest, and actively participate in medical education.

Job responsibilities Role Accountabilities

Make appropriate clinical decisions on presenting problems within the scope of competence, seeking advice and support from a mentor or senior colleagues when required.

Assess health needs of patients with undifferentiated or undiagnosed conditions under supervision when necessary.

Provide screening, diagnosis, treatment, and preventive care in line with current protocols.

Develop individualised care plans in consultation with patients, aligned with best practice and guidance.

Maintain clear, accurate, and contemporaneous medical records.

Undertake all duties expected of a GP in primary care, in accordance with regulatory and standard-setting organisations.

Deliver evidence-based, patient-centred, and equitable care.

Ensure safe prescribing and responsible use of resources.

Clinical Leadership & Quality

Contribute to quality improvement activities, audits, and learning from significant events.

Support development and implementation of evidence-based guidelines.

Advocate for patients and help reduce health inequalities.

Build Expertise Within the Organisation : Contribute to projects and initiatives that enhance clinical standards and service delivery across the company.

Work effectively within the multidisciplinary team and with external services.

Share knowledge, support colleagues, and manage clinical risk collaboratively.

Work Under Mentorship for Professional Development : Engage actively with a designated mentor for advice, support, and structured learning to accelerate competency.

Equal Share of Practice Workload : Participate in duty doctor sessions, chronic disease management, and other core responsibilities alongside colleagues.

Participate in Medical Education : Support the training of medical students and GP trainees through shadowing, teaching, and collaborative learning.

Share best practice to enhance team capability.

Commitment to Continuous Learning : Maintain professional development through CPD activities, reflective practice, and engagement with company initiatives.

Community & System Contribution

Support public health initiatives and health promotion campaigns.

Experience

Recent experience in general practice (can be during training).

Exposure to multidisciplinary team working

Understanding of clinical governance and patient safety principles

Previous involvement in teaching or supporting medical students

Interest in developing expertise in one or two specialist areas

Qualifications

Full GMC registration with a licence to practice

Completion of GP training and inclusion on the GP register

Skills and knowledge

Strong clinical decision-making skills appropriate to level of experience

Knowledge of current clinical guidelines, protocols, and evidence-based practice

Effective communication and consultation skills with patients, families, and colleagues

Ability to develop and implement care plans

Understanding of population health, health inequalities, and resource management

Good written and verbal communication skills

Competence in medical record-keeping and IT systems/EMIS

Basic computer literacy (MS Office, email, internet)

Good organisation and time-management

Ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Commitment to ongoing professional development.
