Electronics Assembler / Repairer
Location: Leicester
Pay: £13.00 - £15.00
Hours: Days, Monday - Friday
An established electronics manufacturer is seeking an experienced Electronic Assembler / Repairer to join their engineering team on a long-term basis. This role offers hands-on involvement in high-reliability electronic repair and rework, working alongside highly skilled engineers in a quality‑driven environment.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for stripping down complex electronic assemblies and supporting detailed repair activities at component and PCB level. The role demands exceptional attention to detail, strong manual dexterity, and proven repair expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Advanced PCB Repair & Rework
Track and pad repair using jumpers, conductive epoxy or foil techniques
Precision de‑soldering of multi‑pin components without PCB damage
SMT rework and fine pitch soldering under microscope
Removal of conformal coatings (acrylic, silicone, urethane)
Component-level fault finding using test equipment such as multimeters (oscilloscope knowledge advantageous)Mechanical Teardown & Assembly
Safe disassembly of complex electronic box-build systems
Use of manual and pneumatic tools for both destructive and non-destructive teardown
Removal of adhesives, rivets, press-fit components, and tamper-resistant fasteners
Wire loom and harness stripping, connector de‑pinning, and cable management
Documentation of disassembly and reassembly processes
Skills & Experience Required
Strong background in PCB repair rather than assembly alone
Excellent understanding of repair standards for high reliability electronics
Proven experience with SMT rework and microscopic soldering
Meticulous approach to quality and ESD compliance
Ability to communicate recurring issues to engineering teams to support continuous improvement
Certifications (Desirable)
IPC‑7711/7721 (Rework, Modification & Repair)
IPC‑A‑610
J‑STD‑001Candidates with current or previous certification, or strong working knowledge of these standards, are encouraged to apply.
Physical & Technical Requirements
Ability to work for prolonged periods under high magnification
Excellent hand‑eye coordination and steady hands for work on sub‑1mm components
Strong visual acuity and attention to fine detail
