Main Purpose of Job
The Youth and Employability Senior Manager will oversee the delivery, development and sustainability of the youth and employability department. Ensuring activities and programmes are impactful, high quality and accessible. You will ensure that all activity is delivered to a high operational standard and aligned with the organisation’s values, meeting the needs of the young people involved.
Managing a dynamic team, the Senior Manager will have a strong background in either youth work and/or education and skills. They will champion young people in all they do, upholding a culture of reflective practice and youth voice across programme design. You will build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and partners at all levels. You will ensure programmes meet KPIs and are delivered to budget, while sourcing new funding for future programmes. You will track outcomes and impact through monitoring and evaluation and produce reports for internal and funders.
Responsibilities
Team Management and staff support
* Lead and drive performance of a team. Promote a feedback culture and professional growth.
* Ensure programmes are well-staffed, managing rotas, staff recruitment and staff training.
Programme management and delivery
* Oversee the design, planning and delivery of high-quality youth programmes in-line with the department and Trust strategic plan.
* Ensure all programmes uphold high operational standards and comply with policies and procedures (session plans, safeguarding, GDPR, health and safety, risk assessments, EDI and quality checks).
* Oversee programme logistics including external bookings, venue hire, facilitators, transport and resources.
* Support programme delivery, working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when required.
* Lead on the delivery of a large-scale job fair, hosted at the Gtech Community Stadium.
* Champion youth voice across all programmes, ensuring young people are involved in shaping and evaluating services.
* Oversee the management of the youth voice group and feed youth insight into leadership, planning and delivery.
Stakeholder and Partnership Management
* Maintain existing stakeholder/funder relationships with diverse partners (e.g. UK Youth, London Youth, Coca-Cola European Partnerships, Kick It Out, Worley, DWP, Premier League Charitable Fund).
* Develop new partnerships, including funding opportunities, to support department growth.
* Represent the Trust at local and national forums (e.g. Level Up Youth network, local authorities, and Brentford FC events).
* Grow a network of employers to support programmes with expertise.
Budgets and funding
* Oversee budget and resource allocation, including setting the budget for 2026-2027.
* Identify and scope new funding opportunities and contribute to applications, renewals and reporting.
Monitoring and reporting
* Keep monitoring systems up to date to track outcomes, impact and project reporting.
* Lead on internal and external reporting for youth and employability programmes.
Safeguarding Responsibilities
* Follow data protection and privacy protocols.
* Stay informed about safeguarding policies and best practices.
* Participate in safeguarding training and emergency response preparation.
* Report safeguarding concerns promptly to the appropriate authorities or personnel.
* Maintain accurate records of incidents and actions taken.
* Collaborate with other teams to ensure a cohesive safeguarding approach.
* Participate in meetings and contribute to safeguarding policy development and improvement.
* Provide support and guidance to staff on safeguarding policies.

Selection Criteria Essential
* Degree, professional qualification or experience in a relevant field (Youth work, Education, Social Sciences)
* Awareness of current socio-economic issues affecting young people and youth employment in the areas we work
* Experience managing multifaceted programmes to support young people to develop skills and/or enter work
* Experience or strong understanding of supporting young people from vulnerable or underrepresented groups
* Proven experience in stakeholder management and partnerships with local businesses, schools, colleges and universities
* Demonstrable experience (at least 2 years) of working with young people to inspire and develop skills
* Experience of leadership, managing teams and a department
* Proven track record in planning and project management
* Knowledge of youth engagement and operational standards in youth settings, including budget management, risk assessments, session planning and safeguarding
* Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, interpersonal)
* IT literacy with emphasis on Microsoft and CRM packages
* Knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety, equality and diversity and data protection
* Willingness to travel within the allocated areas and work flexible hours
Desirable
* Relevant postgraduate or professional qualification
* Knowledge of the local area and demographics (Hounslow, Ealing, neighbouring boroughs)
* Experience of co-designing services with young people
* Experience of securing funding and grant writing
