Regional Operations Director – Adult Social Care
Compass Associates are proud to be working in partnership with a leading ambitious national adult social care provider to recruit a Regional Operations Director, a newly created role within the organisations structure. This is a pivotal senior leadership appointment, responsible for the operational performance, quality and growth of a large regional portfolio of services.
Reporting to the COO, the Regional Operations Director will provide visible and hands‑on leadership across the region, driving high quality, sustainable and commercially successful services. The successful candidate will lead and develop Area Directors and Service Managers, ensuring strong governance, operational accountability and a culture centred around quality, transparency and continuous improvement.
The role carries full responsibility for regional financial and non‑financial performance including quality, safeguarding, occupancy, agency reduction, staffing efficiencies and EBITA delivery. You will lead service improvement initiatives, oversee action plans and maintain strong relationships with Commissioners, Local Authorities, families and wider external stakeholders.
This is an operationally focused leadership role requiring a highly visible presence across circa 40 services, with regular travel and on‑site support expected throughout the week. Further afield this role may also be key to harmonising acquisitions within the wider portfolio.
Key Requirements
Senior multi‑site operational leadership experience within social care.
Remote with extensive regional travel from Scotland to Nottingham – North West / South Yorkshire / Derbyshire.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead regional operational performance across quality, people and financial KPIs
* Drive safeguarding, governance and continuous quality improvement
* Develop high‑performing operational leadership teams
* Improve occupancy, staffing efficiency and agency control
* Lead business continuity, sustainability and digitalisation initiatives
* Build strong commissioner and stakeholder relationships
* Support growth, mobilisation and new service development
Qualifications
* Significant senior operational leadership experience within adult social care
* Strong understanding of CQC and wider social care regulatory frameworks
* Commercially astute with strong financial and operational management experience
* Experience leading quality improvement and managing underperforming services
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively
* Experience opening new care services
* Leadership qualification such as MBA, RGN, RNLD, RMN or equivalent
* Experience working within large national care organisations
