The Digital Mental Health Group is one of the UK's largest and most influential research teams investigating the impact of digital technologies on youth mental health, with the aim of improving outcomes for children and young people worldwide. We are known for our innovative and rigorous scientific outputs, as well as our direct provision of scientific advice to senior policymakers and politicians.
Our group currently includes our PI, Professor Amy Orben, one Assistant Research Professor, one Centre Manger, two Postdoctoral Research Associates, three PhD students, three Research Assistants, one placement student with recruitment planned for three additional Research Associates. We value our team's complimentary skill sets (e.g., differing backgrounds, approaches, and areas of expertise) and actively work with other local and international research groups. Much of our work is team-based and involves work with government, charities, NGOs, policymakers and other stakeholders.
The purpose of this role is to design, implement and manage the DMH Group's CoProduction and Community Engagement strategy, ensuring that input from CYP, parents, policymakers, civil society organisations and other stakeholders informs research design, conduct, dissemination and future planning. The successful applicant will have excellent communication and organisational skills, being able to work with a wide range of people including researchers, academics, policymakers, support staff, students and funders.
The postholder will develop and maintain children's, parents, policy and research advisory bodies, facilitate engagement with diverse stakeholders, plan community engagement activities, facilitate co-production of research with communities, assist in analysing qualitative data, and evaluate the impact of this involvement. The role also contributes to DMH's external visibility through representation in collaborations, events and communications.
This is a great opportunity for an individual with experience in community engagement, to work autonomously within a growing and dynamic team on a topical and very current question. You will be able to shape your own ways of working, as well as the project management of the team and related projects, delivering on best practice in ways you see fit. Balancing a busy and varied workload, you will enable the research group to best achieve its aims: supporting cutting-edge research that impacts national policy and child mental health.
Fixed-term: Funding is limited to 2 years in the first instance with the option of possible extension if funding permits.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check and a health assessment.
