Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) in Berkeley and Saint Charles, MO has openings for Assembly Mechanic – Quality Inspectors supporting multiple programs.
Assembly Mechanic encompasses duties from various classifications: Inspector Assembly, Sub-Assembly Precision, Mechanic Aircraft Production, Mechanic Electrical and Radio, Sheet Metal Assembler, and Riveter.
Position Responsibilities:
* Assemble precision assemblies, set up and operate ream fixtures, drill, ream, countersink, spot face, hone, and bore for major assemblies.
* Setup and operate shot peen equipment for stress relieving assemblies.
* Install press fit and force fit bushings, perform filing, fitting, honing, reaming, drilling, tapping, sawing, burr removal, and adjustments.
* Assemble aircraft and spacecraft parts, install equipment, and support systems.
* Perform checkout, adjustments, rigging, and pressure testing of systems.
* Troubleshoot, repair, and adjust electrical and electronic systems, lighting, power systems, and instrumentation.
* Assemble and modify wire bundles and electrical components.
* Install wire bundles and electrical components in aircraft, power plants, or support equipment.
* Assemble aircraft/spacecraft structures with or without jigs, perform fitting, aligning, trimming, and defect removal.
* Perform skilled assembly operations such as shimming, fitting, and realigning assemblies based on blueprints.
Basic Qualifications:
* 2+ years of assembly or relevant military assembly experience.
* 2+ years with sheet metal assemblies, drilling, countersinking, riveting, and fastener installation.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience as a Quality Inspector.
* Current or recent security clearance within 24 months.
Additional Information:
* Ability to work any shift.
* Position governed by the IAM Collective Bargaining agreement.
* Probationary period of 120 days for new hires or transfers.
